Calling all pupils/students, parents, teachers, support staff, community groups and anyone who cares how their local schools are responding to the Climate Emergency!

This launch meeting is to organise a co-ordinated, effective strategy for bringing schools and colleges up to the standards demanded by the situation.

Leeds is waking up to the climate emergency, and young people are leading the way. Over 10,000 people attended the climate strike on 20 September and across the city, people in the public, private and voluntary sectors are working out what it means for them.

Our Future Leeds Schools - a strand of Our Future Leeds - aims to bring about engagement with climate change by schools from the grassroots. The aim is to organise and equip school students, parents, teachers, support staff and community groups to bring our schools up to scratch in four areas: decarbonising; curriculum; staff training; and student well-being.

To launch this project an open meeting is being held on 2 October, organised by Sarah Fishwick (mum,  primary teacher, Leeds Development Education Centre) and Matt Carmichael (dad, secondary teacher, Tidal, Leeds Climate Commission).
