7th November, 2018 - 15:38

Over 100 people packed out Leeds Civic Hall for Climate Question Time, a keynote event in the north for Green GB Week (15-19 October 2018).

The event, hosted by Leeds Climate Commission with the Priestley International Centre for Climate at the University of Leeds and the Centre for Climate Change Economics and Policy, was held in the council chamber on Tuesday 16 October.

Panellists for the livestreamed event were from the University of Leeds and other universities that had previously taken part in  a shared public engagement exercise on climate change on the Monday of Green GB Week. They were: Prof Piers Forster (Director, Priestley International Centre for Climate, Leeds), Dr Sarah Mander (Tyndall Centre, Manchester), Prof Lisa Emberson (Director, Stockholm Environment Institute, University of York) and Prof Hayley Fowler from the University of Newcastle.

Joining the panel of academics were climate journalist Mat Hope of Desmog UK and Cllr James Lewis, Deputy Leader of Leeds City Council.

The event was chaired by Prof Andy Gouldson, who is also Chair of Leeds Climate Commission. It was introduced by ITV's Calendar News presenter Christine Talbot.

Questions to the panel were collected at public engagement sessions at Leeds Station, as well as at locations in York, Manchester and Newcastle. They were also submitted online and taken from the audience at the event.
