Can regeneration be a catalyst for fair and inclusive climate action across the city of Leeds?

Tuesday, 8 October, 2019 - 18:00 to 20:00
BuroHappold Engineering, 3 Wellington Place, Leeds LS1 4AP

A panel discussion, followed by a Q& A and networking to explore how Leeds can deliver its vision to be both net zero carbon and the best city in the UK by 2030.

With significant regeneration plans in the pipeline, how can we encourage and secure the right kind of sustainable development? What policy and mechanisms are required to build the business case for investment that unlocks wider social value across the city, supporting a just transition to a green economy where the co-benefits of climate action are felt by everyone in the city?

Speakers include:

  • Professor Andy Gouldson, Chair of Leeds Climate Commission, University of Leeds
  • Sophia Cox, UKGBC Social Value Programme Leader
  • Lee Arnell, Executive Regeneration Manager, Strategic Growth: City Centre and Major Infrastructure, Leeds City Council
  • Karen Stafeckis, Development Manager, CEG

Hosted by James Dickinson, Associate Director, Energy, BuroHappold and Georgina Chamberlain, Associate, Sustainability, BuroHappold.
