Are you passionate about the role communities can play
in tackling the climate and nature crises? We’re seeking new voluntary members of our Communities & Engagement Group.
The Communities & Engagement Panel is one of the Commission’s four core steering groups. The Group focuses on exploring and disseminating best practice around climate engagement and community climate action; on inputting community voices into the work of the Commission and other issues relating to communities and the just transition.
The Group meets quarterly, online (Microsoft Teams) for two hour meetings, usually on a Thursday morning though these slots may move from time to time. Group members may also meet between meetings to collaborate on work.
Group members usually fall into one of the following categories:
- Individuals who are part of community organisations that are actively working on climate or nature issues (employed or volunteers)
- Individuals who are part of organisations or networks with a reach into the community
- Individuals working for organisations (such as local authorities) that carry out community engagement activities around climate or environment
We’re particular keen to hear from…
- People working in rural communities
- People working with groups particularly impacted by the climate crisis or by policies that seek to address it
- People who are part of groups that are often under-represented in climate conversations, such as people with disabilities or members of ethnic minority groups
We will be recruiting around six new members of the group. Click the button below to fill in a short application form and tell us why you’d like to be involved.
